Treasurer Lynn Fitch has released online tools focused on improving personal finance and educating Mississippians on 529 college savings plans. Available at no cost through the Treasurer’s website, these online modules, developed by the national firm EverFi, are easy to use and give viewers two areas to explore: one on personal finance and the other on 529 plans.
“I want to provide Mississippians every possible opportunity to get the information they need to be better stewards of their dollars,” said Treasurer Fitch
. “Our new modules can be for adults who need a refresher course in personal finance, for students, or for businesses to provide personal and professional development. Our goal is to empower all Mississippians when it comes to their money.”
The personal finance module walks visitors through a comparison guide of credit cards versus debit cards, the basics of a checking account, and credit scores and reports. The 529 module outlines how 529 savings plans work, why they are beneficial, and how to start saving for higher education.
The modules can be accessed through the TEAM Updates section at TreasurerLynnFitch.com/TEAM
